Abstract

So far, the performance of masonry walls against in-plane lateral loads such as earthquake loads has been extensively studied, but less attention has been paid to out-of-plane loads such as explosions. Due to their large surface area, walls endure significant forces during explosions, leading to extensive damage and potentially causing severe financial losses and casualties. Given the increase in terrorist and sabotage attacks, reinforcing these structures seems necessary. In recent years, fiber-reinforced polymers (FRP) have been widely and effectively used in the reinforcement and performance improvement of these structures. Their light weight, high stiffness and high strength, and corrosion resistance are among the properties that have attracted researchers to use these materials. Finite element modeling not only provides a basis for better understanding the behavior of masonry walls but also is very useful in predicting the behavior of these members after reinforcement, especially in the absence of experimental results. In this study, using numerical modeling in ABAQUS software, the behavior of masonry walls reinforced with FRP strips against a blast with an explosive charge equivalent to 150 kg of TNT (the weight of explosive likely to be carried in a sabotage attempt via a vehicle) at a distance of 5 meters was investigated. Lagrangian equations were used to model the mechanical behavior of the structure, and the solver used in this research is an explicit solver to account for the time factor in the software’s integration process. The total time considered for the entire explosion process is 1 second, and the explosive load was applied to the studied structure using the Conwep method. The type of fibers, width, thickness, area, and angle of the FRP strips were important and influential parameters that were examined for the efficiency of this reinforcement method. The modeling results indicate that this reinforcement technique is highly effective in strengthening masonry walls against explosions, as it has reduced the deflection of the wall by at least 70% and its energy by up to 90%. It can also be inferred that an arrangement for reinforcing masonry walls with FRP strips is suitable if it covers the areas prone to damage, which in masonry walls are the mortar joints between the bricks. Therefore, the horizontal arrangement shows better performance compared to the vertical and diagonal arrangements. Similarly, reinforcing 100% of the wall area performs much better than reinforcing 50% and 25% of the wall area, but it is not economically acceptable. In general, similar to structural elements, non-structural elements can also exhibit plastic behavior in critical situations, preventing the collapse of these elements due to the absorbed energy. Therefore, walls with higher plastic energy show better behavior against explosive loads. Additionally, based on the hysterical displacement and kinetic energy diagrams of the wall, it can be seen that the behavior of reinforced walls is oscillatory, while the behavior of unreinforced walls is noticeably pulsating. Finally, the optimal arrangement of FRP strips proposed for reinforcing masonry walls against explosions in this study is the use of CFRP strips horizontally, with a thickness of 1 mm, a width of 24 cm, and covering 50% of the surface area; This configuration successfully decreased the deflection of the wall from 63.1 cm to 7.7 cm and damped approximately 13% of the blast wave energy.

Abstract

In the last decade, there has been more attention towards the assessment and improvement of construction  phase embodied energy. In addition to buildings maintenance energy, large amounts of energies are consumed in construction process which is called embodied energy. This research results from recording all types of energies used in construction phase and presenting a numerical calculation method to assess the embodied energy of area unit and also decreasing this energy to its lowest possible limit. In order to achieve the minimum embodied energy, three energy consuming phases are calculated for 1400 square meter case study; which are material embodied energy, transportation energy and erection and on-site energy. Deviation of total embodied energy for the area shows 795.14 GJ/M2 as embodied energy. This digit is a reliable benchmark for comparing these three energy consuming phases and also comparing this construction system with other ones. Total embodied energy it the result of all three parts. But analysis of them shows that it's necessary to substitute some materials with more optimized ones. The result of this substitution decreased the embodied energy to 12.75 GJ/M2 and which is about 1.6% of the first measured embodied energy.

Abstract

Collecting data of the family Halictidae are reported in Gorgan county, Golestan province, northern Iran. We collected 30 species belonging to 5 genera in 3 subfamilies. Among them, Lasioglossum (Hemihalictus) croceipes (Morawitz, 1876) and Halictus (Seladonia) confusus Smith, 1853 are recorded from Iran for the first time and 18 species are new for Gorgan county. Among 112 collected specimen, the subfamily Halictinae (27 species), genus Lasioglossum (14 species) and subgenus Lasioglossum (5 species), representing the major groups of halictid bee and Halictus (Halictus) brunnescens (Eversmann, 1852) was the most abundant species in the study areas. Knapweed flowers (Centaura spp.) had higher halictid bee taxa richness. An updated checklist of halictid bees of Gorgan county is provided.

Abstract

Mulberry pyralid, Glyphodes pyloalis Walker is an important pest on mulberry. The essential oil of Rosemary Rosemarinus officinalis L. (Lamiales: Lamiaceae) has been investigated on toxicity and physiological characteristics of this moth under controlled conditions. The major compounds of the oil were analyzed as 1, 8 Cineol (20.021%), Borneol (7.17%), Camphor (6.541%), Geraniol (6.281%), Camphene (5.623%), Linalool (4.993%) Alpha fenchyl acetate (4.222%) and Verbenone (4.147%). Lethal and sublethal concentrations (LC10, LC30 and LC50) were estimated 0.77%, 1.18% and 1.59% (v/v) respectively. The essential oil affected the nutritional indices of fourth instar larvae of G. pyloalis. efficiency of conversion of ingested food (ECI), efficiency of conversion of digested food (ECD), relative consumption rate (RCR) and relative growth rate (RGR) were reduced in larvae treated with R. officinalis essential oil while approximate digestibility (AD) in treated larvae was significantly increased compared with the control. The essential oil affected the insect’s some key metabolic compounds like; lipid, protein and carbohydrates. Similarly this effect was also significant in the activities of certain key enzymes like; alpha- amylase, lipase, protease, glutathione-s-transferase and esterases.

Abstract

A 12-week feeding trial was carried out in 500 L fiberglass tanks  to evaluate the effect of dietary choline at 0, 2, 4, and 8 g kg -1 levels on growth rate, body composition and total liver lipid of juvenile Acipenser baerii (37.67±0.67 g). A semi purified basal diet was formulated using vitamin free casein and wheat gluten as a protein source, a mixture of animal and plant oils as a lipid source and dextrin as a carbohydrate source. Four isonitrogenous (40% protein) and isoenergetic (18 MJ kg-1) diets were prepared and fed to the fish three times daily to apparent satiation. Weight gain, feed conversion ratio (FCR), specific growth rate (SGR) and protein efficiency ratio (PER) were significantly affected by dietary choline (p<0.05). The best growth performance was observed in fish fed diets containing 2 and 8 g kg -1 choline (p<0.05). Fish fed with 2 and 4 g kg -1 choline showed higher lipid content compared with the control diet (p<0.05), but not significantly different in body protein (p>0.05). Total lipid of liver and plasma, plasma cholesterol, triglyceride and phospholipids levels showed an increasing trend with increasing levels of dietary choline, but not significantly different among treatments (p>0.05). Based on the results, we recommend adding a 1.5 gkg-1 choline to commercial diet of juvenile Acipenser baerii.

Abstract

Political skills and Impression management are two new and important subjects in the field of organizational behavior that share many common points. We try to examine impact of this tow topics on each other. This study, In terms of target, is an applicable Research, and nature and objective is as descriptive/ Correlative. Statistical society included all employees of the governorate of North Khorasan. To implement this study Sixty-eight people are randomly selected as statistical sample. The research data collection tools are Ferris et al impression management behavioral strategies Questionnaire and Bolino & Turnley Questionnaire. Data obtained from questionnaires have been analyzed with Pearson correlation, liner regression and one sample t tests. Findings indicated that all factors of political skills (Social Astuteness, Interpersonal Influence, Networking Ability, and Apparent Sincerity) significantly have positive impact on behavioral strategies of Impression management. Also level of employees’ using political skills and behavioral strategies of Impression management found out to be about an average and higher.

Abstract

Aim: Regular physical activity has several physical, psychological and social benefits. However, it is a global health problem, especially among ICU nurses. Therefore, in order to improve nurses’ physical activity, it is required to determine the effective correlated factors. The aim of this study was to delineate predictive factors on the physical activity of ICU nurses based on a trans-theoretical model (TTM) using path analysis.
Method: Accordingly, in this cross-sectional study, 82 nurses from eight intensive care units of six hospitals in Guilan University of Medical Sciences completed the translated version of Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ) and another questionnaire, which included a range of constructs from the TTM. Data were analyzed using bivariate correlation and path analysis.
Findings: It was revealed that self-efficacy (β=0.24) and Pros (β=0.18) had a direct effect on the participants’ physical activities. It is important to state that self-efficacy was effective on the participants, behavioral physical activity both directly and indirectly. Totally, self-efficacy with the path coefficient of 0.62 was considered as the strongest predictive factor of physical activity among the ICU nurses.
Conclusion: To enclose, the determined effective factors in improving the ICU nurses’ physical activity were expected to be of more concern, especially self-efficacy as the strongest one.

Abstract

Infective endocarditis (IE) is a rare but serious disease with different clinical pictures. Its neurological complication is commonly mistaken in term of diagnosis and treatment. Therefore, such cases must be taken under further diagnostic imaging for searching the basic structural lesions. Known causes of these signs include cardio embolism with hemorrhagic transformation, septic embolism, or mycotic aneurysms. In this paper, our case was a patient admitted for the evaluation of local neurological complaint reason and subsequent therapy. He was found to have bacterial endocarditis after medical workup. It was diagnosed prospectively from positive tests of vegetation on Transesophageal echocardiogram and Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) results.

Abstract

Background: The comprehensive evaluation program of the health system in higher education is a strategic plan in line with the goals of health reform program. The planning levels are based on 12 general policies. As professors of medical universities have an important role in public health promotion, this study aimed to identify the outcomes of faculty development at medical universities in Northern part of Iran, based on evolution and innovation program of medical education.
Methods: This qualitative research was conducted using Grounded Theory Approach during 2015-2016. The research population consisted of 22 faculty members of medical universities in Northern part of Iran. Sampling was performed by a purposive sampling method for those who had responsibilities at university or college.
Results: The results of the obtained data suggested two main themes: the internal university outcomes (i.e. Promotion of education quality at universities) and external university outcomes (i.e. Public health promotion).
Conclusion: It is suggested to education policy makers to apply a more accurate and systematic plan in order to achieve development and growth of their faculty members; so, the effectiveness and efficiency of faculty members and consequently higher education will be promoted.

During the collecting of Hypogastruridae (Collembola) in Mazandaran province, Xenylla mediterranea da Gama, 1964 was reported for the first time from Iran. With the new record in this study, the number of Xynella species known from Iran increased to four. Information for specie including material examined, description, ecology, distribution, and illustrations are given.

Abstract

Aims: Evidences support association between obesity and Low Back Pain (LBP). The purpose of the present study is to explore related factors of lBP in some employees working at Deputy of health of Guilan University of Medical Sciences.
Instrument &Methods: This study was a cross sectional study. A total of 100 employees working at deputy of health of Guilan University of Medical Sciences and were selected through nonrandom purposive sampling method. The research tools were Quebec Back Pain Disability Scale (QDS) and Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) . Statistical descriptive/analytic methods were used to analyze data through SPSS version 23.
Findings: In total 100 employees with mean age 43.84 ±8.44years took part in the study. Of these participants, 68 employees were female (68%) and 32 employees were male (32%).
The findings from this study indicated that most of the studied participants were suffering from moderate pain. This study also showed that there was a significant association (P < 0.05) between LBP and high BMI.
Conclusion: This study verified that increased Body Mass Index (BMI) is associated with LBP and disability among employees. Therefore, designing educational programs with emphasis on reducing BMI through increasing physical activity and healthy diet is strongly recommended.

Abstract

Biological and demographic parameters of the mealybug ladybird, Cryptolaemus montrouzieri (Mulsant) were evaluated on citrus mealybug, Planococcus citri (Risso) and obscure mealybug, Pseudococcus viburni (Signoret) under 24 ± 2 ºC, 80 ± 5% relative humidity and a photoperiod of 16:8 (L: D) h. The mealybugs had a significant effect on developmental time and reproductive and demographic parameters of the ladybird. Life span (egg to adult death) was obtained 220.85 ± 5.78 and 119.44 ± 2.1 days when fed on Pl. citri and Ps. viburni, respectively. However, mean number of eggs per female (fecundity) and mean percent of egg hatching were significantly higher on Ps. viburni than on Pl. citri. In addition, values of intrinsic rate of increase (rm), finite rate of increase (λ) andnet reproductive rate (R0) were significantly higher on Ps. viburni than on Pl. citri.The values of intrinsic rate of increase were estimated 0.081and 0.094 day-1 on Pl. citri and Ps. viburni, respectively. Results of this study suggested that the obscure mealybug is a more suitable prey than the citrus mealybug as the ladybird displayed shorter developmental time, and higher fecundity and growth rate when fed with obscure mealybug.

Abstract

The present study investigateeffect of different dietary macronutrient composition on fatty acids profile, body fat and pancreatic lipase enzyme activity in Siberian sturgeon. A group of 180 Siberian sturgeons juvenile (initial weight, 30 ± 5 g) were used in this experiment and fed on four isoenergetic diets. Diets were named LP-St (low protein and high carbohydrate: lipid ratio), HP-St (high protein and high carbohydrate: lipid ratio), LP-L (low protein and low carbohydrate: lipid ratio) and HP-L (high protein and low carbohydrate: lipid ratio). Fish were fed apparent satiety for 10 weeks. The samples were obtained from body carcass and juveniles intestine. In this study, the same level of fish oil and sunflower oil were used as a source of diet lipid content. The HUFAs content in HP-St and LP-L diets were showed highest and lowest value, respectively. The results showed the body fatty acidsprofiles was significantly affected by fatty acids composition in diets (P < 0.5). Diets with high protein and high carbohydrates concentrated SFA and MUFA in fish carcass. Moreover, the PUFA content increased in sturgeon fed with high lipid diet. However,the results of this study showed the body lipid content wasaffected by total lipid content of diet and lipase activity decreased in Siberian sturgeon intestine fed on LP-L diet with lowest HUFA.

Abstract

Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are widely used in consumer products mainly due to their antimicrobial action. The rapid increase in the use of nanoparticles has driven more attention to their possible ecotoxicological effects. In this study: first, acute effects of colloidal AgNPs during embryonic stage of Persian sturgeon and Starry sturgeon were investigated and then in Starry sturgeon, their short-term effects during early life stages (before active feeding commences) were analyzed. Based on the obtained results from the acute toxicity tests, AgNPs induced a dose-dependent toxicity in both species during early life stages. The short-term toxicity test was performed using 0, 0.025, 0.05 and 0.1 mg/l of colloidal AgNPs. Silver accumulation in larvae exposed to 0.1 mg/l AgNPs was recorded significantly higher than the control treatment (P<0.05). However, the obtained survival rate data did not indicate any significant differences among treatments.

Abstract

Identifying the necessary infrastructures for an effective management of knowledge and making innovations in organizations are of the paramount importance. In previous investigations, infrastructures have been studied in isolation from other factors, but it has been tried in this research to survey and analyze the direct and indirect impact of the climate and organizational structure on innovation performance considering the mediation of knowledge management and social interaction, through a comprehensive model. Interaction in affecting leadership style & organizational climate on knowledge management also are reviewed. This study has been done using sample of 140 selling and marketing unit employers of the shuttle corporation in Tehran. This research is descriptive- survey and questionnaire used for data collection. Result showed that knowledge management and social reaction are not mediating. Effects of organizational structure on social interaction and organizational climate on knowledge management, social interaction on innovative performance are positive and meaningful, but other hypothesis were rejected.

Abstract

Aims: Coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) with social isolation, treatment rejection, and negative perception of the health status of patients. One of the methods to detect these problems is evaluating the quality of life. This study aimed at determining the effect of self-care behavior education on quality of life of patients after CABG based on Pender’s health promotion model.
Materials & Methods: This semi-experimental was conducted on cardiac surgery candidates, who underwent CABG in the cardiac center hospital of Mazandaran, Iran in 2017. Subjects were selected and divided into two intervention and control groups, using block randomization. at 220 individuals (110 cases per group), and data were collected, using interviews with subjects, the self-care questionnaire based on Pender’s health promotion model in cardiac surgery candidates, and SF-36 quality of life questionnaire. Moreover, the patients were followed-up and trained for 3 and 6 months after the intervention.
Findings: In this research, ANOVA results demonstrated that the different structures of quality of life significantly changed at 3 periods, including before, 3, and 6 months after the intervention (p<0.001). Furthermore, the mean total score of quality of life was higher in the intervention group (56.244±1.474), compared to the control group (48.120±1.508) in all 3 periods.
Conclusion: According to the results of the study, it is recommended that the model designed and used in the current research be applied to perform healthcare behaviors, so that the quality of life of patients can be improved after cardiac surgery.

Abstract

Aims: In this study, the effect of dietary macronutrient composition (two levels of protein 44% and 38% with two carbohydrate/fatty ratios of 1.4 and 3) was studied during starvation and re-feeding with the aim of achieving growth, body composition, and fatty acids in the body of Siberian Sturgeon (Acipenser baerii, Brandt, 1869).
Materials & Methods: This experimental study was carried out at the International sturgeon research institute in a completely randomized design. 360 fish (with an initial weight of 30±5g) were randomly distributed in 24 tanks of 500 liters (15 fish per tank) with a volume of 350-400 liters capacity. Fish were fed on 4 different diets; protein 38% - carbohydrate: lipid ratio 3 (LP-St), protein 44% - carbohydrate: lipid ratio 3 (HP-St), protein 38% - carbohydrate: lipid ratio 1.4 (LP-L) and protein 44% - carbohydrate: lipid ratio 1.4 (HP-L), respectively. The fish were fed apparent satiation for 3 weeks, then, starved for two weeks, and, then, re-fed for 5 weeks. The results were analyzed, using SPSS 22 software by multivariate analysis of variance and Duncan's test.
Findings: Compensatory growth did not occur in any treatments. In the control group, the best growth was observed in HP-L, while after re-feeding, HP-St represented the best weight gain and feed conversion ratio
Conclusion: The dietary composition has a significant effect on the SFA, MUFA, and PUFA fatty acids, while the two weeks of starvation slightly increase only MUFA and have no significant effect on other fatty acids.

Abstract

Due to significance of effective communications in achieving organization goals, Studying necessary communication competencies are also important. The purpose of this research is developing a model for achieving effective organizational communications based on Intra/Interpersonal Communication Competencies. This research is applied in its objective and descriptive-analytical in its method. The statistical population is a group of academic experts; that 17 peoples using Purposive and snowball sampling were selected as the sample. For collecting data and information literature reviewing and expert opinion used. Also, to assess validity and reliability of data gathering tool, the triangulation method used. To analyze the data and information Interpretive Structural Modeling methods are used. The results of this research led to identification of important dimensions of intrapersonal and interpersonal communication competencies that encourage effective organizational communications and designing their interpretive structural model. Results showed that the components of intrapersonal and interpersonal communication competencies at different levels are inter-effective, and changes in the quality of each component causes changes in quality of other components at same level as well as the next levels. Finally it led to changes in quality of the organizational relationships. After interpreting the model and analyzing its levels, suggestions for progress of Intra/Interpersonal Communication at organizations were presented.

Abstract

The present study aims to study the English equivalents of the verb adraaka used in the Qur'anic phrase ma adraaka through looking at the equivalents selected by translators based on Fillmore's linguistic theory of semantic frame. Accordingly, the equivalents used in seven English translations by Arberry, Pickthall, Helali and Khan, Sale, Shakir, Yusuf Ali, and Qarai were compared and examined. The results were analyzed using Fillmore's semantic frames, which also meant to depict how and to what extent semantic frames can be applied in similar analyses. The analysis indicated that the translators have used 9 verbs that belong to 7 different frames in the FrameNet, among which considering the senses and frames of the verbs, three equivalents, i.e. know (used 12 times by Helal and Khan, and 4 times by Shakir), understand (used 13 times by Sale), and comprehend (used 4 times by Shakir) showed to be more suitable. All in all, Sale, Helali and Khan, and following them, Shakir can be regarded as more successful translators translating this Qur'anic verb.

Abstract

Aims: Peace psychology is defined as a field which is in search of developing theories and operations whose goals are prevention and reduction of direct and structured violence. The aim of the present study was to determine the effectiveness of intrapersonal and interpersonal peace-based intervention on emotional and psychological well-being of male aggressive adolescents.
Materials & Methods: This quasi-experimental study with pretest-posttest design with the control group was conducted on 26 male aggressive adolescents selected via the randomized cluster sampling method in a male high school of Isfahan city in 2016. The students who got higher scores in Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire (BPAQ), were randomly assigned into control (N=13) and experimental (N=13) groups. Then the Keyes Mental Health Continuum-Long form (MHC-LF) was implemented as a pre-test on both groups. The experimental group received 8 sessions of intra and interpersonal peace-based intervention, while the control group did not receive any intervention. Then post-test was performed on both groups. After gathering the data, it was analyzed by SPSS 24 software using multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA).
Findings: By controlling the effect of pretest, after intervention, the mean scores of psychological well-being and emotional well-being in the experimental group was significantly higher than the control group (p<0.001).
Conclusion: Intra and interpersonal peace-based intervention can improves psychological and emotional well-being of the male aggressive adolescents.
